Berlin Concerts are Astounding! (June 2017)
OneStage has some great relationships with venues around Berlin & Brandenburg and we are delighted with the results of our concerts in churches and outdoor venues in the region by two of our university ensembles this June. We welcome the opportunity to say a “a big thank you” to the organisers and promoters in Berlin.
Here is a snippet from one of the venues in German of course:

Forging New Friendships in Utrecht (June 2017)
Organising joint concerts for our groups is a rewarding way for them to not only enjoy their tour destination but an opportunity to make new friends, share a musical experience and fun post-concert celebration. This June (2017) ensembles from Bristol University visited Utrecht and teamed up with their University big band for a musical extravaganza. Here is the report from Utrecht:

“I just wanted to let you know that we had an amazing concert together with the Hornstars and BUJO from Bristol. The set up was very relaxed and people from both bands immediately ‘mingled’ and got to know eachother for a bit. Stephen and I coordinated the final things with the venue and we were very happy to see that a bunch of people from the neigbourhood spontaneously visited the concert. And what’s more, the Mayor of Utrecht came to the concert which was a great suprise!

The bands as well as the rest of the audience seemed to love all of the performances, with a lot of cheering and applause after each song and for the soloists. After the concert, we made a group picture (coming soon…) and had some drinks together. We really had a great time and we would love to repeat this exchange somehow in the future!”

Choir cooperation in Slovenia (April 2017)
Our very wonderful Liz Walker arranged for her a cappella choir The Northern Spirit Singers to tour to Slovenia in April. Here is a report from the concert promoter:

There were two concerts organized for the group, first one being in Ljubljana Cathedral and the second in St. Martin’s church in Bled. Both concerts were successful, since there was a nice audience in both cases. At Ljubljana Cathedral the staff at the venues was very helpful. Everything happened according to schedule and there was an audience of around 80, who were very responsive and applauded after every song. The comments after the concert were very positive. The Bled concert was special due to the Slovenian choir Vox Carniola cooperation. In Bled, the rehearsal was started a bit later on the choir’s request but the concert was very successful and a social gathering of the choirs followed.”

Report from the tour manager: University tour to the Czech Republic (March 2017)

“I am attaching a couple of pictures from the last two concerts. Podebrady was nice and the weather outside at 3:00 PM was just gorgeous! I think the group enjoyed it. Yesterday´s Hlahol was completely full. I spoke to the group leader afterwards about the whole tour – he was very happy and I hope the conductors and players were too”

BachOneStage is always delighted to work with high standard ensembles of all kinds, and we’re even more delighted when some of the younger participants on our tours write about their experiences.  Some of our most memorable tours are to destinations with a special significance for musicians, and the two we feature below are no exception:

In July 2015, the orchestra of the prestigious Westminster School visited the Salzburg region of Austria, performing three times and visiting the spiritual home of Mozart and of course, the Sound of Music!    You can read the full account by one of the sixth-formers in the party here and find out more about Salzburg here

Then in October the Birmingham Cathedral Choir travelled to Leipzig, performing twice in the famous Bach church of St Thomas, and giving a charity concert in aid of refugees in the beautiful Cathedral of Naumburg.  One of the younger members of the choir wrote about his experiences here . You can also experience more of what we can offer in Eastern Germany here
